Position Description:

Reports directly to the Accounting Supervisor.   As an integral part of the Project team the Project Accountant will provide quality financial services to the Project. Quality financial services include Contract review, Billings, Work-in-Place Reporting, Subcontractor and General Condition payments, and Cash Reporting. The Project Accountant will follow Turner Policy and Procedures and will communicate any potential profitability or risk to management. The position requires an excellent knowledge of Accounting Principles and excellent organization skills to ensure timely and accurate reporting. The Project Accountant should be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task. The Supervisor or the Assistant Regional Controller will direct special projects.

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

-As an integral part of the Project team the Accountant has the duty to ensure the Project is receiving quality Financial Services.
-Bring to the attention of the Accounting Supervisor and Project Staff any items that are being performed contrary to Company Policies or Procedures.
-Preparation of timely and accurate Billings and posting blocks. Follow Company P&P on Final Bills.
-Preparation of timely and accurate WIP Reports. Knowledge of Job Cost ledger. Preparation of Cash Position Reports.
-Preparation of timely and accurate Subcontractor and General Condition payments. Whenever possible, diffuse subcontractor issues at Site level. Prepare Check Held Report. Ensure paperwork is in order for Manual Checks. Adhere to Company policy on Advance Pays.
-Preparation of timely and accurate Billing Proofs. Resolution of variances.
-Preparation of timely and accurate Outstanding Voucher Report for release of payments.
-Preparation of timely and accurate monthly Sales Tax Report.
-Preparation of timely and accurate monthly Plant, Property and Equipment.
-Preparation of timely and accurate monthly Scorecard.
-Review contract and preparation of Contract Review form.
-Attend 1B meeting, pencil meetings and project Closeout meeting.
-Assist with training of Assistant Accountants.
-Handle daily Project issues.
-Special projects as directed by Accounting Supervisor and Assistant Regional Controller.
-Perform other duties as assigned.


 
Qualifications

Minimum of four years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have proficiency in computer applications. Must display initiative, teamwork and independent thinking. Ability to perform cost analysis and be organized for maximum efficiency.


 
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
