Position Description:

This position will focus on property and casualty claims management with an emphasis on cost containment and litigation management as respects Turner's Corporate and CCIP insurance programs.  The position interacts with Business Unit claim coordinators and the TCS risk management group to aggressively manage claims.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist in implementation, coordination and monitoring of the Property & Casualty, Professional Liability, Pollution Liability, Surety and Subguard claim administration programs.
- Monitor the claim service procedures of Turner’s insurance carriers and update or modify as needed.  This task includes review of claim handling directives, notification guidelines, reserve requirements, negotiation and settlement authority and compliance with service agreements.
- Assist in development of Turner claim management procedures manual for all lines of coverage.
- Oversight and accountability for status of all claims in local BU’s assigned.
- Conduct claim reviews with assigned local BU’s
- Maintain claim and litigation files
- Advise Management of specific coverage issues, concerns or disputes arising out of losses
- Review and interpret insurance carrier coverage positions and make recommendations for negotiated resolution
- Assist in development and implementation of performance guarantee audits with insurance carriers
- Assist in management and monitoring of Turner Litigation Management Plan and Turner Preferred Counsel list
- Assist in preparation of statistical loss reports
- Provide direction for, and oversight of, local BU claim investigation and reporting procedures
- Enable, promote, build and maintain strong working relationships with all partner, including local BU’s, safety staff, claims team members, and insurance carriers
- Provide local training to BU’s on claims and CCIP procedures.
- Perform other duties as necessary


Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Insurance, Risk Management, Finance or related field. Minimum of 10 years experience in Claims Management, preferably in Construction, with experience both in workers’ compensation and property/liability claims administration. Proficiency in contractual risk transfer is desirable.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to sit and work at a desk using a computer, adding machine or calculator and telephone in an office environment, with periodic walking and standing. In addition, employee may be required to visit construction and accident sites, where the required duties will include the physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Vision requirements of this position include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects tools or controls, and to type using a keyboard and mouse, to talk and hear, and to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment in an open cubicle. Noise in the area is low to moderate. The employee is also required to visit construction sites where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
